Records of the maximum temperature the substrate has been exposed to, ensuring the material has been processed. Crayons cover a wide range of temperatures from 248 to 1112°F (120 to 600°C) with an accuracy of ±5°C. Apply to surface being tested—crayons change color within one to two seconds if object is within ±9°F (±5°C) of the temperature rating.

When applied to pre-heated surfaces, should a color change take place, within 1-2 seconds, then the temperature is within +/- 5°C, of it's rating. An instantaneous change indicates the temperature is higher than it's rating, and should a color change take place after 2 seconds then the temperature is below it's rating.

Applications: Paper, rubber, textile, plastics, chemical and electrical industries. Zinc foundries, aluminium processing and the glass industry. Iron & steel industry, enamelling, welding and fabricating.
