⚡ K Type Thermocouple Wire
Browse our full selection of Type K thermocouple wire, the most widely used thermocouple alloy combination for industrial and laboratory temperature measurement.
Type K thermocouples (Chromel + / Alumel –) are valued for their wide temperature range, reliability, and cost effectiveness. They are commonly used in food processing, laboratory work, and general industrial applications because the alloys resist rust and oxidation.
Typical maximum continuous operating temperature is approximately 1100°C / 2012°F, depending on wire gauge and insulation type.
Thermocouple Grade Wire
Thermocouple grade wire is used for direct temperature sensing in process applications.
- Brown jacket (Teflon or Fiberglass)
- Yellow (+) Chromel / Red (–) Alumel conductors
- Available in Standard Limits (±2°C) or Special Limits (±1°C)
- Available in solid or stranded conductors
- Optional stainless steel overbraid or armor jackets for harsh environments
Most wire in this section is Standard Limits.
Contact a TIPTEMP Thermal Advisor if Special Limits wire is required.
Thermocouple Extension Wire
Extension grade wire is used to connect thermocouples to instrumentation.
Accuracy is maintained over a limited temperature range.
Operating range:
-40°F to 221°F (-40°C to 105°C)
- Yellow PVC outer jacket
- Yellow (+) / Red (–) PVC conductors
- Available in solid or stranded construction
- Optional shielding to reduce electrical noise
- Optional stainless steel overbraid or armor jackets for demanding environments
