K Type Thermocouple Wire

Type K Thermocouple (Chromel+ / Alumel –)  K is the most common type of thermocouple. It’s inexpensive, accurate, reliable, and has a wide temperature range. Type K wire is commonly found in food applications because its alloys "do not" rust or oxidize. The maximum continuous temperature is around 1,100°C / 2,012°F depending on the wire gauge size.

Thermocouple GRADE Wire is recommended for measuring process temperature. K Thermocouple Grade wire always has a BROWN jacket ( Teflon or Fiberglass ) with Yellow and Red conductors. This wire is available in standard limits ±2°C or Special Limits ±1°C.  Most wire in this section is Standard. Please contact a Thermal Advisor to request Special Limits.  Thermocouple Grade Wire always has a brown jacket.  Teflon ( PFA or FEP ) and Fiberglass have a brown jacket with a color code stripe. The wire can be ordered in solid or stranded conductors.  Additionally, we have options for Stainless Steel Overbraid and Armor jackets for harsh environments.

Thermocouple EXTENSION Wire is used to connect Thermocouples to Instrumentation.  Its accuracy is guaranteed over a limited temperature range. ( -40 ~ 221°F / -40 ~ 105°C ) Type K Extension Grade Wire always has a YELLOW PVC jacket with Yellow and Red PVC conductors. The polyvinyl jacket is rated to 221°F / 105°C.  The wire can be ordered in solid or stranded.  Additionally, we have options for shielding to avoid electrical noise interference and/or Stainless Steel Overbraid and Armor-Cable jackets for harsh environments.
